Congratulations
... to NRYSC members for a concert well done! You guys are amazing, and I know that your parents and family members are very pleased with your performance Saturday evening. I am sure of this because my mother's heart runneth over with joy, and I am inspired to work harder at getting the word out about this special group of young people who are working hard to grow as musicians and share their music with our community. The Ice Cream Social was pretty good, too!
CD's Available
A recording of the 2008 Summer concert is available. If you signed up after the concert, we will be putting your order together and will probably get those to you by the fall audition date. If you did not sign up for a CD and would like one, please let me know as soon as possible. They are $7.00 for both the Symphony and Chorus performances and $5.00 for either the Chorus or Symphony only. The concert was too long to put on one CD.
WVSO Labor Day Concert at Woodrow Wilson High School Auditorium
The West Virginia Symphony Orchestra will be performing their annual Labor Day Concert, September 1, 2008, at the Woodrow Wilson High School. The concert is free and will begin at 7:00 PM. Come early, seating is first-come, first-serve, and the auditorium fills up quickly.
Student Musician Cards
The West Virginia Symphony Orchestra is again providing Student Musician Cards to all of our NRYSC students for the 2008-09 concert season. These cards will provide free admission to all NRYSC students to the Symphony Series and Family Discovery Series Concerts at the Clay Center in Charleston, West Virginia. Last year a number of parents purchased season tickets from the Clay Center in order to accompany their children and provide rides for other students to the concerts. If you would like to purchase season tickets for the upcoming symphony season at the Clay Center, you can do so by calling the ticket office (304) 561-3570 or by visiting their website: www.wvsymphony.org. Ask about special teacher's 50% discount, which includes homeschooling parents, when ordering.
Student/Parent Surveys
If you have not returned your student/parent survey, please do so as soon as possible. You can mail them to: NRYSC, P.O. Box 177, Fayetteville, WV 25840. I really would like to have these returned. New Summer Season students will be receiving a survey in the mail. Please complete and return to the above address.

SYMPHONY AUDITIONS
Auditions for the New River Youth Symphony 2008 Fall Season will be as follows:
5:00-5:45 p.m. Monday, September 8, New Members planning to join both Symphony & Chorus, as well as Current Violins and Flutes who are in both Symphony & Chorus
5:45-7:00 p.m. New Members planning to join both Symphony but not Chorus, as well as Current Violins and Flutes who are in Symphony but not Chorus
7:00-8:30 p.m. Regular Symphony Rehearsal
Auditions & Rehearsals to be held at Oak Hill High School*
CHORUS AUDITIONS
5:00-5:45 p.m. Monday, September 8 - New Members Only
5:45-7:00 P.M. Regular Chorus Rehearsal
REGULAR REHEARSALS on Mondays, except November 24 - Thanksgiving week (no rehearsal that day)
5:45-7:00 P.M. Regular Chorus Rehearsal
7:00-8:30 P.M. Regular Symphony Rehearsal
LATE AUDITIONS
New Symphony and Chorus students will also be allowed to audition on the following two Mondays, September 15 and 22.

From the South (Beckley) on Route 19, take the Oyler Exit, turn left, cross over the highway and stay to the right until you get to Oak Hill High School
From the North (Summersville) on Route 19, take the Oyler Exit, turn right, and stay to the right until you get to Oak Hill High School.
